Twenty-five aspiring scholars from tribal areas of Jharkhand are gearing up to fly to the UK for higher studies, under unique government scholarship schemes.

In a groundbreaking move, the young scholars belonging to the underprivileged communities of Jharkhand are ready to set their footprints in the prestigious universities of the UK.

Choosing to migrate from the tribal heartland to international campuses, these 25 aspirants will be moving under the Morang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda overseas scholarship and Chevening Jaipal Munda scholarship scheme for the academic year 2023-24.

This diverse team of scholars hails from SC/ST/OBC and minority communities.

DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT

Hasan Al Banna, a law aspirant set to attend Bristol University, expressed how this opportunity has reshaped his fate when moving abroad for higher studies seemed impossibly distant due to family constraints.

Praful Kiran Kerketa, another scholar, shares a similar story of hope derived from this unprecedented initiative.

For Omprakash, from the forest-surrounded district of Chatra, the Morang Gomke scheme has cracked open a new world of possibilities once unimaginable.

PATHS TOWARDS A BRIGHT FUTURE

Zishan Ahamad and Abhishek, selected under the Chevening Jaipal Singh Munda scholarship scheme, expressed that the financial burden of about 25 lakh rupees has been lifted through the collective efforts of Chevening and the state government.

This was an opportunity made possible by the vision of CM Hemant Soren that added wings to their aspirations.

FULLY FUNDED FUTURE

The Jharkhand Government will bear the entire cost, which will include the expenses of studies, food, lodging and travel of the selected scholars under the Morang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda overseas scholarship and Chevening scheme.

Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Sukhdev Singh states that this initiative is possibly the first of its kind, as the scholars have no obligation to return to Jharkhand for a stipulated period after their studies.

EMPOWERING THE FUTURE GENERATIONS

CM Hemant Soren emphasised the state's vision to build a bright future for the upcoming generation. The Morang Gomke scheme has been innovatively designed to back up every aspirant interested in any stream, breaking the barriers of economic backgrounds.

Provisions have been made to cover even the cost of coaching institutes for competitive exams.

Concluding the felicitation, the government announced its plan to launch a fully funded scheme to pursue PhD, MPhil, and Doc degrees in 100 reputed universities worldwide.

The Morang Gomke scheme, launched three years ago, has shown monumental progress by sending 6 students in 2021-22, 19 in 2022-23 and 25 in 2023-24, reflecting the state's unwavering commitment to molding a globally competent generation.
