Hyundai Motor India has announced that the recently-introduced Exter is garnering "euphoric" response with the bookings for the entry-SUV going past 50,000. The Indian arm of the South Korean auto major launched this vehicle on July 10.

According to Hyundai, the Exter bookings have jumped from 10,000 pre-launch to over 50,000 in less than 30 days of launch.

In an official statement, Hyundai Motor India COO Tarun Garg said that the Exter has redefined benchmarks in the country and offers customers superior safety with six airbags as standard and ESC, VSM and HAC available across all trims as an option.

"The response to Exter is euphoric, so much so that the bookings have zoomed from 10,000 pre-launch to 50,000 plus in less than 30 days of launch," he added.

The Hyundai Exter price starts at Rs 5,99,999 and goes up to Rs 10,09,990 (ex-showroom). Its main rival in the Indian market is the Tata Punch, which is priced between Rs 5,99,900 and Rs 10,09,900 (ex-showroom).

At the heart of the Hyundai Exter is a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which delivers 83PS of max power and 113.8Nm of peak torque. It can be paired either with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. There is a CNG option (69PS and 95.2Nm) with a 5-speed MT.

The Hyundai Exter mileage is claimed to be 19.4kmpl for the petrol MT, 19.2kmpl for the petrol AMT and 27.1km/kg for the CNG MT.
