Kate Winslet's iconic overcoat, worn by her onscreen character "Rose" in the superhit 1997 romantic movie "Titanic", is set to be auctioned online by NJ-based collectibles auctioneer Goldin through September 13, 2023. The current bid for the dress stands at $34,000 as of Friday night. The overcoat, made of pink wool with black embroidery, was designed by Deborah Lynn Scott and created by the J Peterman Company based on Scott's design. Scott was awarded the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the movie, according to New York Post.

The overcoat holds significance as it was worn by Kate Winslet during the filming of the sinking scenes. “This floor-length wool overcoat worn by Rose during those frantic moments as she navigates the sinking ship while rescuing Jack bears visible water stains on the inside and across the interior silk. Intricate embroidery in black appears alongside floral embroidery that gives the coat dynamic bespoke realism aligned with the fashion of the times," the auction house said on its website.

It is expected that the overcoat will fetch more than $100,000, as per Ken Goldin, the founder and CEO of the auction house. Goldin describes it as a "six-figure piece" and believes that it appeals to both movie memorabilia and pop culture collectors, as well as fans of the film who may want to give it as a special gift. The iconic status of the coat, combined with its connection to the billion-dollar milestone film "Titanic", makes it a prized collectible.

The auction house, Goldin, is known for its exclusive sales, valuing artifacts at $100,000 or more. This particular auction, called Goldin 100, features premium items that captivate the attention of collectors and enthusiasts alike. The overcoat is an elaborate manifestation of the fashion of the times, with intricate black embroidery alongside floral embroidery, lending it a bespoke realism.
