The 18-year-old Swapnodeep Kundu from Hanskhali in Nadia district, who was a student of Bachelor of Arts in Bengali, fell from the second floor of the hostel building at midnight on Wednesday.

When students rushed to the spot upon hearing a loud sound, they found Swapnodeep lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to KPC Medical College for treatment, where he died at 4:30 am on Thursday.

Police sources said some injury marks were visible on the body.

The victim's father, Ramprasad Kundu, complained to the police that he believes some of the boarders of that hostel are responsible for his son's death.

According to his family, Kundu made a phone call to his mother just before the incident and urged her to take him home as he was 'scared'. Kundu had told his mother that he had a lot to share with her. The family had planned to come to the university on Thursday to meet him.
