Joshimath residents protests against demolition drive; RRR makes Golden Globes history with Naatu Naatu; more

The authorities have halted demolition activities in Uttarakhand's sinking town of Joshimath, as protests by local people and hotel owners intensified on Wednesday. The owner of Malari Inn broke down as the authorities were about to start the demolition process.

Every affected family will be given Rs 1.5 lakh immediately as compensation for losing their home. Locals, however, are not happy with this compensation and are demanding much more, saying they have put their lives' savings into building the houses which are now marked unsafe. 

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli's RRR created Golden Globes history after the film's song 'Naatu Naatu' won in the original song category. The song was composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani and crooned by Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. Director SS Rajamouli along with his team including Ram Charan, Jr NTR, and MM Keeravaani, among others, were present to represent the film.
