A man killed his wife during a fight over her "excessive usage of social media" in Koppalu village in Karnataka's Mandya. He also suspected her of having an affair.

Three days prior to the murder, a heated argument escalated between the two. The argument escalated over the days, and in a fit of rage, Srinath strangled Pooja with her veil and killed her.

Srinath confessed his crime to his father-in-law, Shekhar, who chose to help him in disposing the body. They used a motorcycle to carry the body. They then attached a heavy stone to her body, before discarding it in a nearby river.

Days after the murder, Srinath went to the Nimishamba temple for a few days. However, he eventually surrendered to the police and also admitted that his father-in-law helped in disposing the body.

Pooja and Srinath had married nine years ago and had a daughter. Over time, Pooja's habit of making reels and short videos strained their relationship, leading to frequent fights between the two.

Both Srinath and Shekhar are currently in police custody at the Arakere police station. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
