New Ather 450S and 450X launched, prices start at Rs 1.30 lakh

Ather Energy has revealed the prices for the new 450S and the 450X electric scooters. The 450S was recently revealed by the company as a more affordable alternative to the 450X. Both electric scooters for now are only available with a 2.9kWh battery pack, with the 450X with the 3.7kWh battery pack to be made available in October 2023.

Speaking on the price announcement, Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said, "With the launch of our refreshed portfolio today, we now have three products on the 450 platform in different price segments. This allows us to reach out to a much wider set of buyers. Our latest entry level variant - the 450S breaks new ground in the 125cc performance scooter segment by offering a first-of-its-kind DeepView Display dashboard and a host of never seen before innovative features. The 450S significantly raises the bar in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering on performance. The 450S will appeal to all those who want to enter the electric segment but are seeking the quality and assurance that Ather scooters provide at an accessible price point. Along with the 450S we are also introducing the 450X in 3kWh and 4kWh capacity providing more options to our customers to choose from our best selling scooter platform."

The new 2023 Ather 450S comes with a 2.9kWh battery pack which gives it an IDC range of 115km. This is paired to a 7.24bhp and 22Nm electric motor which gives the scooter a 0 to 40kmph acceleration time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 90kmph. The scooter comes with a fair bit of kit including the new DeepView TFT display offering a range of functionalities, as well as new safety features such as FallSafe - which cuts off the motor if it senses the rider is on the verge of a fall, Emergency Stop Signal and coasting regen. These features have made it to the 450X as well.

2023 Ather 450 prices -

The new Ather 450S is priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The Ather 450X with 2.9kWh battery is priced at Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) while the top-spec Ather 450X with 3.7kWh battery is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The Pro-Pack is priced at Rs 14,000 for the 450S, Rs 16,000 for the 450X and Rs 23,000 for the 450X with 3.9kWh battery.

The 2023 Ather 450X on the other hand is now also offered with a 2.9kWh battery pack while the top-spec 450X with the 3.7kWh battery is scheduled for launch in October. The smaller battery gives it a range of 115km, which is 30km less than the larger battery pack. Customers have the option to opt for the Pro Pack which adds features like Ride Assist, Ather Battery Protect, AtherStack updates and Ather Connect. The motor however is the same 8.4bhp unit.

The Ather 450S comes with a 7-inch DeepView display with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, auto brightness and multiple display modes. The scooter also comes with new switchgear with improves tactility and a new reverse switch and a joystick. The new coasting regen feature slows down the scooter at a steady rate while harvesting the energy to improve the range. The mudflap has also been tweaked to improve the spray coming from the tyre, and offering better protection for the suspension and brakes.

Deliveries of the new 450X with 2.9kWh battery to start by August 3rd week, the 450S by August last week and the new 450X with 3.7kWh battery by October.
