Off late we have been witnessing a series of elevator accidents in apartment buildings. As lift has become an essential part of our daily routine, we all need to understand the dos and don’ts of elevator safety. So what are the rules and regulations?

Amid heavy police presence outside Delhi's  Rouse Avenue Court, protests erupted on Saturday against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler demanding his arrest in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots after he was granted anticipatory bail in the case. According to a CBI chargesheet, Tytler "incited, instigated and provoked the mob" assembled at Pul Bangash Gurudwara, Azad Market, on November 1, 1984, that resulted in the burning down of the gurudwara and killing of three Sikhs -- Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Guru Charan Singh.

The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi to determine if it was built over a Hindu temple resumed on Saturday. The ASI is photography and videography of the trident (trishul), swastika, bell and flower-like symbol engraved on the walls and pillars of the Gyanvapi complex.ASI is also recording the construction style of the symbols as well as the study of the dome and poll. Meanwhile, lawmaker Asaduddin Owaisi said that he hopes that floodgates for a "thousand Babris" (Babri Masjid) will not be opened once the report of ASI will be made public by the government.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, on Saturday, said that Rajasthan is a peace-loving state and an attempt is being made to defame it by comparing it with Manipur. Some incidents have happened. Such incidents happen in every state, for example, Madhya Pradesh. But they turn a blind eye when it comes to the BJP-ruled states. The remarks by Gehlot came after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly killed and later burned in a coal furnace in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district on Wednesday. Locals claimed she was gang raped too. Rajasthan police have arrested four people, including the main accused, and also detained a minor in connection with the case.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been found guilty in the Toshakhana case and has been sentenced to three years in jail. In a pre-recorded video, the 70-year-old embattled former premier said that his arrest was expected. "My arrest was expected. I appeal to people not to hide in their homes silently and fight for their rights. I also want my party workers to remain peaceful, steadfast and strong," he said. Imran Khan was arrested on Saturday from his Lahore's Zaman Park residence after the Islamabad trial court sentenced him in absentia to three years in prison in a corruption case over the sale of expensive state gifts when he was in power. The move could disqualify him from contesting elections, at least, for five years.
