Delhi government school students' attendance will now be digitally recorded by class teachers using tablets or the school computer system.

A recent official circular outlines that only online attendance records will be considered valid for examinations, emphasising the importance of students' active participation in the learning process.

The circular further said that manual attendance marked by the class teacher will not be considered for any purpose.

''Online attendance records will be considered final for examinations. The attendance data of the students submitted online by the class teacher and school will be reflected at HQ level,'' the Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) said.

The circular also encourages schools to establish a stronger connection between home and school, suggesting personal calls to families and digital communication through SMS, WhatsApp, and email.

Furthermore, a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) will be conducted every Saturday (excluding the second Saturday and holidays after school hours) to provide parents with attendance insights and foster communication regarding students' attendance trends.
