Days after being reinstated as Lok Sabha MP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited his parliamentary constituency in Kerala’s Wayanad on Friday. Addressing a gathering here, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing ethnic clashes in Manipur. The Congress leader said that despite being in politics for 19 years, he had never witnessed what he experienced when he went to Manipur.

Rahul Gandhi recounted emotional encounters with Manipuri women, vividly portraying their tragedies. He recounted the sorrowful story of a mother who had lost her son in a brutal incident, leaving her with only a picture as a reminder. He spoke of another woman who couldn't bear to recall her painful experience and fell unconscious.

"There is blood everywhere, there is murder everywhere, rape everywhere. That is the situation in Manipur and the Prime Minister spoke for 2 hours, 13 minutes in Parliament, but he spoke on Manipur for 2 minutes. He laughed, joked. His cabinet laughed, joked...," Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress leader said that thousands of people in Manipur have suffered.

"Someone's house has been burnt down, someone's sister has been raped, and someone's brother and parents have been killed. It is as if somebody threw kerosene across Manipur and set it on fire..." he said.

Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the BJP government over lack of discussion on the Manipur issue. He said that PM Modi and Union Cabinet ministers had a 'lot of fun' during discussion on Manipur issue in Parliament. Rahul Ganghi said that the Prime Minister spent only a fraction of his speech addressing the northeast state's concerns.

“The Prime Minister spoke for 2 hours 13 mins. He spoke on Congress, me, INDIA alliance, but he spoke of Manipur for 2 minutes only,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress leader decried the violence, rape, and bloodshed that have plagued Manipur, stressing that such acts do not align with the idea of India, which represents peace and love.

Rahul Gandhi voiced his commitment to reuniting Manipur. “BJP thinks they have destroyed Manipur. We will bring Manipur back together. We might take 5 years but we will bring love back to Manipur. This is the fight between the BJP and the Congress,” the Congress MP said.

Rahul Gandhi also expressed gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their unwavering support.

"The BJP and the RSS do not understand what a family is. They don't understand that the more they try to separate you and me, the closer we will become. They think that if we disqualify Rahul Gandhi, his relationship with Wayanad will break. If you disqualify Rahul Gandhi, his relationship with Wayanad will become even stronger," the Congress MP said.
