Shubman Gill said that India want to take the learnings from the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies into the T20 World Cup 2024. On Saturday, August 12, the Men in Blue won the fourth T20I in Lauderhill to make it 2-2 in the five-match T20I series.

“Obviously, there is a lot to learn, you've got to play according to the situation. We played in so many different venues. I got a lot of learnings and hopefully when we come back next year, hopefully we can use those learnings,” Shubman was quoted as saying before the fifth and final T20I against Rovman Powell’s West Indies.

After being asked to chase down 179, India romped home with three overs to spare. It was also the second time a team won a T20I in Lauderhill by batting second.

Gill was at his very best as he scored 77 runs off 47 balls with three fours and five sixes before Romario Shepherd accounted for his wicket. He was also involved in a partnership of 165 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal to lay the platform for India in their run-chase.

It also happened to be the joint-highest opening stand for India in the shortest format of the game. On batting with Jaiswal, Gill said, “We enjoy batting together and the lefty-righty combination makes it difficult for the opposition.”

Jaiswal made his T20I debut in the ongoing series and hit his maiden fifty in only his second match. The left-handed batter stayed unbeaten on 84 runs off 51 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. He also won the Player of the Match award as India stayed alive in the series.
