Addressing the speculation, Lil Tay has now come forward to clear the air. In a statement to TMZ, she expressed her heartbreak and struggle to find the right words to convey her feelings. The young star assured everyone that she and her brother are safe and alive, but the incident has left her traumatized. She revealed that her Instagram account was taken over by a third party, which resulted in the spreading of false information and rumors. Lil Tay also highlighted the fact that her legal name is Tay Tian, not Claire Hope as mentioned in the fake announcement.

The misleading death announcement had caused various leading US and international publications to report the demise of Lil Tay, referring to her as Claire Hope. However, after regaining control of her account, she expressed gratitude to Meta for their assistance in removing the fake announcement.
