WI vs IND: Arshdeep Singh has the ability to play the World Cup, says Abhishek Nayar

Former India batter Abhishek Nayar has heaped praise on pacer Arshdeep Singh, saying he has the ability to play for India in the World Cup. Arshdeep will be part of India’s squad as they face the West Indies in the final T20I of the five-match series in Florida.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, Nayar said Arshdeep is an experienced player who can bowl during different phases of the game. Arshdeep picked three wickets as India beat the West Indies by nine wickets in the fourth T20I to level the series 2-2.

“Arshdeep Singh is an experienced player. As we’ve seen in the IPL., Arshdeep can bowl in the death, in the last five overs and in the middle overs. He is a cleaver bowler who uses the seam well,” said Nayar.

He went on to say that Arshdeep is a complete bowler and has the ability to play in the ODI World Cup. India is set to host the 2023 Cricket World Cup in October and November.

“He used the slower one. He is a complete bowler, the more he plays, the better he will get. I believe he has the ability to play the World Cup and play for India for a long time,” Nayar added.

Starting with the new ball, Arshdeep grabbed the wickets of both West Indies openers - Brandon King and Kyle Mayers.

Arhsdeep surprised Mayers with a sharp bouncer in the second over and then edged Brandon King to the slips in the final over of the powerplay. Returning to bowl in the death overs, Arshdeep also managed to grab the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer, who was looking in tremendous touch.

The main feature of Arshdeep's bowling was his variety of slower deliveries and the surprise on-pace balls that got him the wickets.
