A woman was allegedly gangraped by two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district. The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the woman.

The incident reportedly took place on August 3 when the woman was returning home after a temple visit.

The woman had gone to offer prayers and seek blessings at Mata Sheetla temple in Kada Dham. In her complaint, the woman mentioned that it was dark by the time she was returning home after visiting the temple. While she was waiting for public transport, two individuals, including a district panchayat member named Sheru and another person named Jubair Ahmed, approached her in a four-wheeled vehicle. They told her that she wouldn't find any transportation at that hour and offered to give her a lift in their car.

Afterwards, they drove her to a forest, locked the car, and took turns raping her, the complaint mentioned.

The woman claimed that when she tried to cry out for help, the culprits stuffed a cloth in her mouth.

The two men recorded a video of the incident and threatened to circulate it online if she reported the incident, the woman said. She further alleged that one of them held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone about the attack.

After escaping, the woman reached a police station to lodge a complaint. However, her complaint was not heeded by the station in-charge. She approached the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) and filed a complaint. Following this, ASP Samar Bahadur gave directions for a case to be registered against the accused, including district panchayat member Sheru and another person.

ASP Samar Bahadur confirmed that the woman had filed a complaint alleging gangrape by two men. He said that an FIR has been registered based on her complaint and an investigation is underway.
